Beginnings

Addiction Recovery Ministry was started by Reverend Michael W. Decewicz, a priest of the Diocese of Pittsburgh for over 45 years. Father Mike, who passed away on November 10, 2023, was a recovering alcoholic and his vision as Director of the ministry was to help combat the disease of addiction. Father Mike's passion was helping those suffering from addiction and the people who loved them.

About Us

Beginnings

Not Alone

Addiction Recovery Ministry's Team is comprised of people who are in recovery, loved ones of those in recovery, clergy, and rehabilitation experts. In addition, without our wonderful volunteers, we would not be able to continue Father Mike's vision of assisting those who reach out to us for help and hope.

Our Mission

We are a faith-based community seeking to share God's abundant love and be an anchor of hope to those suffering from the disease of addiction and their loved ones.

Our Vision

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crused in the spirit." (Psalm 34:18) Individuals and families experiencing addiction know how crushing it can be. By God's grace, we will serve all who come to us in a safe environment without judgment or stigma. This ministry will serve those in need through prayer, spiritual, and emotional support, education, and collaboration with local organizations providing support services. By following Christ's example in the Gospel, we will provide a spiritual roadmap to recovery via the Twelve Steps Methodology while encouraging the importance of trusting God in their battle to return to the fullness of life promised by our Creator.

Catholic in Recovery

In addition to our ministry works supplementing existing recovery programs, such as 12-step and MAT, we strive to connect with people on a deeper, more spiritual level. We have started a Catholic in Recovery group that meets every Thursday at 1:00 pm in the John Paul I Center, 201 9th Street, Sharpsburg, for those who wish to include their Catholic faith into their daily recovery journey.
